01 / Issued record
Start with the estimate that was issued
Open the private Request status link from your acknowledgement email. In Issued estimate lines, each line shows its description, a Provisional flag when set, an optional provisional reason, its Quantity and unit when recorded, and a Line amount or Not priced. The status page says that these quantities and amounts come from the issued estimate; draft edits are not shown there.
The line card may not show the full measurement basis, affected location, supporting note or drawing reference. Open the issued estimate PDF and the relevant project documents for those details. Match the issue date and any recorded drawing revision to the tender set you are pricing.
02 / Project checks
Compare the line with the tender and what is known on site
- 01
Check the estimate issue and its recorded drawing revision against the tender set. Confirm that you are using the latest drawings and specification available to you.
- 02
Read the line description, quantity and unit together. Locate the affected room or area, then read any provisional reason against the relevant drawing, schedule and specification.
- 03
Compare the line with project-specific information you know: the product and finish, substrate, access and sequencing, and any confirmed site conditions that could change the scope or quantity.
- 04
Identify the missing evidence, instruction or scope responsibility that would resolve the uncertainty. If documents conflict, ask for clarification; do not treat an undocumented assumption as a project fact.
For broader checks across a saved estimate, see the flooring estimate reading guide.
03 / Material detail
Use material schedule figures only for a matching material line
If the provisional line is for a material and the issued estimate includes a matching row under Issued material schedule, compare the displayed measured and gross material quantities. Check planned quantity only when it is shown, and use the displayed pack coverage and whole-pack count where available. These figures are specific to that issued row; they do not resolve a different scope line or confirm missing project information.
04 / Clarification
Reply to an open estimate question
From your private Request status link, find the relevant unanswered thread in Estimate clarifications. It is marked Reply needed. Enter the project-specific information requested by the thread and any question you still need resolved in Your reply, then select Send reply. The saved reply appears in that thread and its status changes to Reply sent.
This form replies to a clarification question already sent by FathomTrowel. The status page has no control for starting a new estimate clarification thread. If there is no matching unanswered thread, use the existing Contact route and include the project reference, the provisional line and the unresolved point in your message.
05 / Your tender
Validate the project and decide your own bid
A provisional line or the estimate total does not settle the missing project information. Validate the documents and site conditions that apply to your work, seek the instruction or evidence you need, and decide how to price and qualify your own tender. Do not present a provisional amount as an agreed or confirmed cost.
