About the service and fee

How the one-off takeoff is scoped, what its published pilot fee covers, and where your rates and final bid stay yours.

FathomTrowel provides a one-off, outsourced, trade-led takeoff for UK commercial flooring and tiling contractors. Measurements are prepared from the drawings and project information you supply, with the measurement basis and scope recorded.

The takeoff provides measured quantities from the supplied drawings and project information. Where the supplied drawings and project information support the detail, outputs may include quantities grouped by room, area, or substrate, material schedules, wastage or preparation allowances, and labour details. A priced summary, where included, uses the rates supplied by the contractor.

The takeoff records its measurement basis and scope notes. Missing, conflicting, or ambiguous project information is flagged for clarification or recorded as an assumption rather than silently estimated. Exclusions identify work outside the stated scope or unsupported by the information supplied. Site verification, design responsibility, specification review, and procurement advice are excluded unless separately agreed.

You supply your own rates and retain control of your margin, preliminaries, commercial offer, and final bid to your client. A priced summary uses those contractor-supplied inputs; FathomTrowel does not set your bid.

The published pilot service fee starts at £95: the base is £95 for flooring only or £125 for flooring and tile. A £0.015/m² adjustment applies only to area above the first 5,000 m², rounded to the nearest penny. The total takeoff service fee is capped at £250.

No. The published fee is for the takeoff service, not the flooring or tiling project costs in your tender. You provide the project-costing rates used for any priced summary.

No. Any fee calculation on the request form is informational only, not a quote or agreed fee. The final takeoff service fee is confirmed after scope review. Submitting a request starts that review but does not guarantee the displayed price or a booking.
